Byrns joins EssentialHealth clinic in Brainerd
Dr. Marcy Byrns joined Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Brainerd Clinic Sept. 1.
The internal medicine physician says she was drawn to practice in Brainerd because of its quality of life. Byrns completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, which is affiliated with Drexel University’s College of Medicine. She received her medical diploma from Drexel University.
Byrns attended a Ph.D. program in bioanalytical chemistry at the University of Kansas and received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota-Morris.
Edina Realty Mortgage hires Engen
Mike Engen will serve as a lakes area mortgage loan consultant in Crosslake for Edina Realty.
Engen has more than 14 years’ experience in mortgage lending. Prior to working with Edina Realty Mortgage, he also worked as a licensed real estate broker.
Extension staff and volunteers complete leadership academy
Heidi L. Haugen, a regional volunteer and partnership development educator and volunteer for the University of M Extension’s 4-H program program, participated in the final session of a 10-month leadership education program in St. Paul.
The program was sponsored by Extension and was delivered by educators and staff of the Extension Center for Community Vitality. Participants of the program met eight times over ten months in on line and face-to-face sessions.
Heldt gains promotion, Waletzko joins office
Marcie Heldt was recently promoted to office manager at Suite Spaces, where she served as CAD Designer since 2006.
Sarah Waletzko joined Suite Spaces several months ago as CAD Designer. Waletzko earned her degree in architectural construction technology from St. Cloud Technical College.
Dondelinger Chevrolet Cadillac welcomes Sparrow
BAXTER — Sheridan Sparrow recently joined Dondelinger Chevrolet Cadillac in Baxter as a sales and leasing professional.
A graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., Sparrow began his sales career in college, and has been working in the auto industry for more than 10 years. A native of North Dakota, he has been living and working in the Brainerd lakes area for the past eight years.
Gervais nominated for physician of the year
Dr. Matt Gervais, a family doctor with Essentia Health St. Joseph’s-Brainerd Clinic, was nominated for the 2012 Minnesota Family Physician of the Year Award.
The award is presented annually to a family physician who prespresnts the highest ideals of the specialty of family medicine, including caring, comprehensive medical service, community involvement and servicing as a role model.
