Scott Stroot achieves circle of success recognition
BAXTER — Scott Stroot, financial adviser with Ameriprise Financial with offices in Baxter, qualified for and attended the 2012 Ameriprise National Conference in Denver.
To earn this achievement, Stroot established himself as one of the company’s top advisers achieving high levels in production, high client satisfaction levels and in support of providing a superior client service. A select number of high-performing Ameriprise financial advisers earn this distinction.
WSN acquires surveyor records
Ray Anderson completed hundreds of land surveys throughout his long career as a surveyor in central Minnesota.
Covering eastern Crow Wing County, western Aitkin County, and parts of northern Mille Lacs and Morrison counties, Anderson was responsible for surveying thousands of acres of land. Widseth Smith Nolting recently acquired Anderson’s records, which span more than 35 years, adding them to the firm’s extensive library. “Having Ray’s records is a real plus for our clients,” said Chad Conner, director of survey operations in Widseth Smith Nolting’s Baxter/Brainerd office. “We have records that date back to the turn of the 20th century.”
Rapid Return gains new owners
Rapid Return Medical Billing (RRMB), with a main office in Brainerd, has new ownership.
The medical billing company that has been operating in the Brainerd lakes area since 1995 was acquired by two long-time, local businessmen.
Rapid Return Medical Billing provides insurance and patient billing services to a wide variety of medical service providers throughout Minnesota, including an exclusive contract with Integrity Health Network in Duluth. Jacob Tiggelaar is president of RRMB. He has more than 30 years of accounting, financial consulting, and business ownership experience. Day-to-day activities are led by two senior staff. Shawn McAllister, operations manager, has been with RRMB since 1999 and has more than 25 years of medical billing experience. McAllister is responsible for overseeing the billing activities of the company’s four billing specialists Bobbie Gordon, Jenna Rygh, Cheri Tiggelaar, and Kristin Koelewyn.
Leading RRMB’s marketing and business development is Jeffrey Barstow, who has more than 20 years of business management and development experience to RRMB and is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with medical providers and industry organizations.
With all work done locally, Rapid Billing reported it expects an expansion in the future.
Becker joins Tanner Nissan
Robert Becker, sales consultant, joined Tanner Nissan in Brainerd in August.
Becker has a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. He previously worked at J.C. Penney’s Co. as a supervisor and has more than 20 years of sales experience.
Clinical nurse specialist joins Lakewood Health
STAPLES — Debra Tastad, clinical nurse specialist, joined Lakewood Health System, Staples, and will work most directly with Dr. Kathryn Riordan, rheumatologist.
Tastad graduated with a master’s degree in nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. Tastad has a special interest in treating chronic diseases, especially within the specialty of rheumatology.
Tastad is originally from Fertile, but she has lived in the Brainerd area for 38 years.
Deborah Schey Salon hosts Alzheimer’s fundraiser
Deborah Schey Salon will host its fourth annual Cut-a-Thon to raise money for the lakes area Alzheimer’s Walk.
Participants may schedule an appointment on Wednesday, which includes food as well as hair cuts. To date, the salon has raised $5,500.
CLC to host ‘Going Into Business’ course
Central Lakes College has scheduled a “Going Into Business For Yourself” session at the Business and Industry Center in Brainerd (Door 6) from 6-9 p.m. Sept. 13.
This session covers all areas of business startup, helpful advice on how to get a dream off the ground and stay profitable, including financing a new venture.
Follow-up counseling is available to qualified individuals from the Small Business Development Center’s team of consultants at no charge to the individual.
Tuition is $49 per person plus $29 for each additional business partner. Instructor is Jay Bock.
Deadline to register is Sept. 13.
