Job growth strategies part of BLAEDC annual meeting
Strategies to grow jobs in Minnesota will be discussed at the Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corporation’s annual meeting.
The session is 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes in Baxter.
Participants will be served a champagne chicken lunch and hear local business perspectives along with a featured presentation.
Kathleen M Schmidlkofer is executive vice president of the regional economic development partnership, Greater MSP.
The Greater MSP is a new private-public partnership committed to stimulating economic growth and prosperity in the state with a focus on the 13-county Minneapolis-St. Paul region.
Schmidlkofer also has extensive private sector experience as a finance executive with General Mills. She has been in a variety of increasingly responsible financial roles during her 25-year career. Her most recent assignments were vice president, finance for the meals and Yoplait divisions; and vice president, finance for the General Mills Canadian Subsidiary located in Toronto, Canada, where she successfully led the integration of Pillsbury Canada business after the acquisition in 2001.
At the Brainerd Lakes Area Economic Development Corporation meeting, Schmidlkofer will discuss the newest economic development trends, opportunities and concerns, as well as strategies to grow jobs in Minnesota.
The Greater MSP is advancing coordinated efforts in regional economic development strategy, creation of a regional brand and marketing program to promote the region’s assets and in regional business retention, expansion, and recruitment programs to stimulate capital investment and job creation in the region.
