Silent auction for Alzheimer's planned

LITTLE FALLS—There will be a silent auction from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 12 at The Canteen (just across from Camp Ripley Main Gates) in Little Falls.

The silent auction is going to be held in conjunction with "Ella's Garage Sale" personal items

of Ella's that she has outgrown, no longer uses or decided that selling would be better than

keeping for herself, PLINKO and other bazaar type games for kids, limited Pizza Ranch Pizza,

(grape) purple pop, 50/50, a meat raffle and "Jam Band" to start around 3 p.m.

All proceeds to go to the Alzheimer's Association through TEAM Tiny, Ella's Walk Team.

Monetary donations can be made payable to Alzheimer's Association and mailed to Ella Pusc,

18768 213th St., Little Falls, MN, 56345.

The event is being hosted by Ella Pusc and family and The Canteen.

The Brainerd High School class of 1969 will be having its annual social at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Brainerd American Legion. Menu items are available for dinner.

'Safeguarding Your Home: Don't be a Victim' workshop planned

EMILY—The United Methodist Church in Emily will host "Safeguarding Your Home: Don't Be a Victim" workshop from 2-4:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

The leader will be Emily Police Chief Josh Harold. This is another in a series of Emily area community educational forums. The church is located across from the Emily Post Office near the intersection of Highway 6 and County Road 1.

Annual quilt auction set

CROSSLAKE—Camp Knutson's annual quilt auction will take place Aug. 12 at Camp Knutson, 11148 Manhattan Point Blvd. in Crosslake. The viewing of quilts and silent auction will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The live auction will start at noon.

"Carmel Star," which won first place and best in show at the 2016 Utah State Fair, will be up for bid. The quilt is an adaptation of Featherhead Star, a Judy Niemeyer design, and comes with a written appraisal of workmanship and replacement value by a certified appraiser of the American Quilters Society.

The quilt was constructed in shades of rust, gold, brown and gray using foundation paper piecing techniques that Niemeyer, international quilting instructor, developed. It was custom machine quilted using multiple intricate patterns.

The quilt is one of two quilts donated to the Camp Knutson Quilt Auction in honor of a camper who has attended the Hand and Hand Autistic Camp for many years.

Absentee bidding for "Carmel Star" is available for those who cannot attend. Bids must be sent to Jared Griffin at by noon Friday.

The quilt auction is one of two major summer fundraisers for Camp Knutson, which serves children with identified needs.

PEO Chapter DV will meet

PEO Chapter DV will meet for its summer social at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Cragun's Legacy Bar and Grill.

Vets and Friends will host a family picnic for veterans and their families beginning at 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at Doug's place, 3148 Bungo Creek Lane SW, Pine River.

The Washington High School class of 1955, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northwind Grille.

Lake Hubert Grange camp out

Aug. 11-13 is a camp out at the Grange grounds. Check in about 5 p.m. on Friday or earlier.

The Saturday dinner is on your own but then at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12, there will be a tour of the Nisswa Pioneer Village, a one-room school house, log house, etc. That evening, there will be a potluck supper at 5:30 p.m.
