Kinship Partners' Coats for Kids drive underway

Kinship Partners' 32nd annual Coats for Kids drive is underway and help is needed to keep kids in the Brainerd lakes area warm this winter.

Gently used or new coats and other winter wear items should be dropped off at Crystal Cleaners in Brainerd or Crosby by Oct. 19. Additional drop off locations can be found at www.kinshippartners.org. Coats in all sizes and other winter outerwear are accepted. Donations should be in good condition with working zippers.

The Coats for Kids distribution is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Westgate Mall in Baxter. From 9-11 a.m. children must be present to ensure proper fit and be accompanied by a parent, guardian or their adult Kinship Partner. One coat per person plus other winter outerwear will be given away while supplies last. There are no criteria beyond the need for a child to receive a winter coat.

For those unable to bring a child that Saturday morning, feel free to come any time after 11 a.m. From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., children do not need to be present to pick up a coat or other winter outerwear.

Each year, Kinship Partners distributes more than 1,000 winter coats and other winter outwear to children and families in the Brainerd lakes area.

Coats for Kids is sponsored by Kinship Partners, Hubbard Broadcasting, Crystal Cleaners, 104.3 The Pulse and the Westgate Mall.
