The Warrior boys' hockey team has won five games in a row, the latest victim being Willmar by a score of 5-1. Brainerd dominated early, outshooting Willmar 26-7 in the first two periods. Brainerd has been outshot in most of its games, but Ryan Sofie's goaltending has meant the difference.

Staples didn't qualify as many wrestlers for the finals of Brainerd's Paul Bunyan Invitational as usual, but the result was the same. The Cardinals racked up 171 points to win their 14th consecutive tourney title. Bemidji was second at 140.5 and Brainerd third at 130.5.

A strike against the F.W. Woolworth store, voted at last night's meeting of the retail clerks union, was set to start at 3 p.m. this afternoon after talks broke down at 2 p.m. The union's Frank Jarboe said the company refused an ultimatum that the contract be signed or the strike would begin.

Burglars broke into the Fort Ripley State Bank the other night and blew the lock off the vault door. They could not make further progress on the burglar proof safe, but did get $38.50 from one of the tills. They earlier stole tools from the blacksmith shop. They escaped toward Brainerd.
