Two new teams raced to the top of the leaderboard July 31 during men's league at Cragun's Legacy Courses.

Halverson Law beat People's Security 28-16 and iTeam Creative topped Von Hanson's 24.5-19.5 to share a 1-point lead in the team standings with three weeks remaining.

Edward Jones is in third place after beating MRI 24.5-19.5.

Paulson Insurance dropped to fourth 1.5 points off the lead after falling to Mulligan's 25.5-18.5.

Katy Kalenberg, Theresa Proctor and Christy Winegar captured the July 29 scramble on the Dutch Legacy during women's night at Cragun's Legacy Courses.

Lyn Carner, Deb Frazer, Sharon Myhre and Nancy McDonald comprised the winning team on the Par 3 Course.

Megan Hoppe swept the Par 3 proximities.

Connie Tisdell and Becky Butcher went pin hunting on the Dutch Course. Sandy Lindberg, Mary Claire Ryan and Rachel Martin made the longest putts.

Aug. 12 will be "Rock Your Favorite Socks and Trivia Night."

Breezy Point men

Billy's 2 still leads the Breezy Point Resort men's league standings despite falling to Thomas & Severson Law 1 10.5-9.5 July 31.

The lead is one point as Dirt Busters tied Thomas & Severson Law 2 10-10.

Breezy Point women

Sue Marsolais was closest to the pin for the good stuff and bad stuff event July 31 during the Breezy Point Resort women's league, which was played on the Traditional Course.

Ruth Tiedeman made the longest putt. Joi Brandt and Barb Owens hit the longest drives for their handicap divisions and Jean Appleton and Cathy Johnson were closest to the line for their handicap divisions.

Whitefish men

Arlen Stensby, Bill Johander, Steve Holubar and Greg Lindahl shot a 120 to win the easy as 1-2-3 event July 29 in the Whitefish men's league.

Joe Wagner, Gary Kipling, Fred Skog and Richard Gady shot 123 for second. Shooting a 129 for third place was Dick Femrite, Max Martz, Mike Carnahan and John Kropp.

Femrite and Johander were closest to the pin and Dave Lobben and Max Martz made the longest putts.

Whitefish women

Marty Moakley, Nancy Schmidt, Shari Loechler and a blind draw needed a tiebreaker to top two other teams, which shot 119 in the two best net balls event during the Whitefish Women's 18-hole league July 30.

The event was in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Minnesota organization, to which the league made a donation.

Second place in the golf event went to Rox Thompson, Cheryl Stansfield, Mary Boeder and a blind draw. Barb Hanson, Barb Holubar, Faye Owen and a blind draw placed third.

Loechler was on fire, shooting a low net 59 for the best round of the day. Diane Giefer, Joan Kantos shot net 64s, Mary Kay Kendall shot 65, Cheryl Bontrager and Susan Walstrom 68s and Judy Eastwood, Thompson and Holubar 69s.

Hanson scored two birdies, Anita Stensby, Kendall, Schmidt and Cathy Munger each carded one. Guest player Pam Musielewicz also made a birdie, while Faye Owen had the only chip-in.

The league championship is scheduled Aug. 12-13 followed by the Women of Whitefish event Aug. 21.

Birch Bay results

Doris Gruszka won the longest putt competition during the July 27 couples social at Birch Bay Resort.

Mary Lienke hit her ball closest to the cone during the July 9 women's social. Dorothy Johnson and Gruszka won the two-person scramble July 16. Judy Kolstad guessed her score exactly to win the July 23 women's social.

Ardelle Wentworth had the least number of putts during the July 30 women's social.

GVL Outing

Katie Wallace, Candace Prigge, Jimmy Kendall and Dave Busch shot 32 to win the Coed Outing step aside scramble July 29 at The Pines.

John Oswald, Judi Moravec and Jim and Kathy McTagne shot 34 for second. There was a three-way tie for third place between the teams of Doug and Vicki Dypwick and Gene and Carol Lovro; Bob and Sue House and John Rappath and Stephanie Haiden and the team of Ron Mickevicus, Judith Anderson and Dick and Karen Williams.

Chuck Jorgenson and Judi Moravec made the longest putts and Dick Williams and Katie Wallace were closest to the pin winners.

Chix with Stix

Diane Dahl and Coralee Ostlund each shot 25s to win the July 31 pick nine holes event during the Chix with Stix league event held at The Classic at Madden's.

Leslie Gravley shot 26 and Pat Lewis, Teddy Sedgwick, Flossie Ahles and Marji Wieber all tied with 28s.

Sedgwick made the longest putt. Cheryl Cote was closest to the pin and Gravley made a birdie.

During the July 24 event at The Preserve, Rose Johnson scored a 58 to win the aces wild game. Debbie Briggs placed second and Gravley third.

Diane Dahl made the longest putt, Briggs was closest to the pin.

Barb Wenschlag and Carrie Spitzack had chip-ins with Jennie Bunce, Joni Meyer, Gravley and Briggs carding birdies.

Black Bear Women

Donna Balzer, Lila Kersey and Gloria Taylor won the group low net game July 31 during the Black Bear women's nine-hole league.

Taylor captured the low putts honor with 11 and Carol Lovro carded a birdie.

Eagle's Landing results

Stacy Brooks and Kathy Toensing both shot gross 31s during the July 30 women's league at Eagle's Landing.

Margie Thesing, Peggy Tautges and Darlene Swedin shot gross 45s.

Sweden's net 28 was the top score. Diane Tamm shot 29 followed by JoAnn Martin's 30 and 31s from Kathy Blanck and Toensing.

Jan Maxfield made the longest putt, Toensing was closest to the pin. Thesing hit the closest third shot and Laura Newman hit the shortest drive.

Eric Rowbottom shot 68 for the low gross followed by Steve Wiltse's 76 and Billy Indihar's 77

Wiltse's 76 translated into a low-net 63. Dave Hill and Bob Tusler shot 65s and Gary Pierzinski shot 66.

Nine-hole low scores went to Jeff Conrad 36, Marty Nooter 38, Josh Dahl 40, Steve Grams 41 and Joe Bachan 41. Low nets for nine holes were Nooter 27, Grams 30, Conrad 31, Ron Bieganek 31, Tom Cotton 31 and Pete Balaski 31.

Larry and Patty Paige were the winners for the Aug. 3 couples night. Mike and Bunny Caughey placed second and Jeff and Donna Schultz placed third.

JoAnn Lewis hit the longest drive for women. Mike Caughey hit the longest drive for men and Sarah Brill hit the closest second shot.

Shane Eastman and Brad Harrington combined to win the gross division of the Monday Night Scramble event July 28. Brad Vold-Steve Messerschmidt placed second followed by Howie Person-Tom Younghans.

Ron Hart-Kevin Hall won the net division. Don Pilarski-Bryan Hill placed second with Lance Hanfler-Shawn Alhom in third.

Harry Tollas hit the longest drive for over 50-year-olds. Harrington had the longest for under 50 years.

Pat Paumen and Tammy Scanlon were closest to the pins and Barb Lieber made the longest putt.

Madden's women

Marie Ryan, Elaine Klinger and Jennifer Bergman shot a 54 to win the colors game during Thursday's women's night at Madden's Resort.

Cathy Ross, MaryAnn Mahler and Margie Newpower finished second.

Ross, Deb Thuringer and Kelly Engel made the longest putts of the night.

Pilot coasts in qualifier

Claudia Pilot of The Pines at Grand View Lodge qualified for the US Women's Mid-Amateur July 31 after shooting a third-place 78 at the Edina Country Club.

Leigh Klasse of Keller shot 76 for medalist honors in the sectional qualifier.

Klasse is coming off her victory in the Minnesota Women's State Match Play senior championship Wednesday. Pilot fell in the semifinals to Alison Hurley, who lost to Klasse 4&3.

Holes-in-one

Dave King, Thunder Bay, Ontario, aced the 103-yard ninth hole of Bobby's Legacy at Cragun's Legacy Courses July 28 using a 56-degree wedge.

Sheldon Erdman, Ramsey, aced the 184-yard 16th hole at Golden Eagle Golf Club July 29 using a 5-wood.

Robert Kimmes, Hibbing, aced the 138-yard 17th hole at Eagle's Landing Golf Club July 29 using a 9-iron.

Scott Jendro, Baxter, aced the 157-yard 15th hole at Eagle's Landing Golf Club Aug. 3 using an 8-iron.
