Brainerd man arrested in burglary
A 25-year-old Brainerd man was arrested Wednesday after fleeing into a heavily wooded area south of Brainerd following a report of a burglary in progress, reported the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department.
The sheriff's office was called at 7:18 a.m. to a residence on Kappel Road, just south of the Welcome Center on Highway 371 south of Brainerd. A property owner was checking on a shed on the property when he interrupted the burglary.
The suspect subsequently fled into a heavily wooded area. With the assistance of Baxter

The suspect is being held at the Crow Wing County Jail on several charges in including burglary, possession of burglary tools and fleeing a peace officer on foot.
Assisting the sheriff's office included Baxter and Brainerd police departments and Minnesota State Patrol.
In a news release, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said, "I couldn't be more proud of not only the officers involved but also the property owner. He was aware enough to call and get law
enforcement involved right away and that was what made the case. I would also like to remind citizens to please remain vigilant and call 911 immediately if they observe any suspicious activity."
