At least one killed, more than 100 injured in New Jersey train crash

Declaration of Independence to be read in Aitkin

AITKIN - The Declaration of Independence will be read at 2 p.m. today at the Aitkin County Courthouse. A free booklet with the Declaration of Independence will be given out to the first 100 people attending.

The public is welcome and encouraged to join organizers for the reading of the Declaration of Independence. They are encouraged to remembering U.S. history as founder and President John Adams envisioned in his quote below:

"I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty; it ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more."
