DEED kicks off statewide broadband tour
BAXTER - The Office of Broadband Development, located in the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), scheduled information meetings throughout the state on the $20 million border-to-border Broadband Grant Program.
Locally, the meeting will be hosted from 1:30-3 p.m., July 28, at Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes, 6967 Lake Forest Road, Baxter.
This grant program, signed into law by Gov. Mark Dayton in May, will fund the build-out of infrastructure to promote the expansion of broadband service to unserved or underserved areas of the state.
The informational meetings will be led by Danna MacKenzie, DEED's new executive director of broadband development, and Diane Wells, telecommunications manager in the Office of Broadband Development, who will provide an update on the application process for grant projects, and will gather feedback and input from community members.
The meetings are open to the public. Individuals with a disability who need a reasonable accommodation to participate in these meetings should contact Wells, Broadband Development Office, at 651-259-7610 or email email@example.com.
