MOORHEAD – Two police officers were bitten by a pair of American bulldogs while entering a home Thursday morning during a drug raid that netted more than 2 pounds of marijuana, Moorhead police said.
A narcotics investigation led police to execute a search warrant. While entering the home, the dogs attacked the officers, who used pepper spray on the animals, police said.
The officers’ injuries were minor. One was bitten on the left wrist, and the other was bitten on the left leg, police said.
In the home, police found more than 2 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $16,000, as well as $625 in cash, police said.
Nicholas Ian Kangas, 21, of Moorhead, was arrested and booked into the Clay County Jail on felony drug charges.
One of the dogs was impounded until police could learn more about its vaccination record.
