MOORHEAD - A Glyndon woman is charged with drunken driving after police pulled her over for swerving and found Jell-O shots in her pockets, authorities said.

Cathy Sanchez, 28, was charged Monday in Clay County District Court with two counts of first-degree driving while impaired, a felony, plus one count each of giving a peace officer a false name and driving after cancellation, both misdemeanors.

Court documents say a Glyndon police officer saw Sanchez’s car swerving as it headed east on Highway 10 about 2 a.m. Saturday.

When he pulled her over, she was slurring and hard to understand, had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol, but managed to tell him her name was “Cathy Reyes,” according to court documents. Her blood-alcohol concentration was determined to be 0.136.

The officer searched the driver before arresting her and discovered three alcoholic Jell-O shots in her pockets, court documents say.

She then allegedly told the officer she was previously arrested for driving under the influence five times and admitted her name was Cathy Sanchez. Her driver’s license was canceled because she was considered a threat to public safety, court documents say.

Her next court appearance is set for June 16.
