Earl Elmquist, age 75, of Nisswa, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Crosby Cuyuna Medical Center. Earl was born in Minneapolis to Martin & Etta (Mead) Elmquist, he was the 4th of eight boys. On November 21, 1964 Earl married Barbara Wilcox. He was a salesman for Miller Davis and Bertelsons. Earl treated all of his clients as friends. Earl loved spending time with his family. He was a people person and a joker. He could be found fishing, camping, skiing, or at a car lot on any given Saturday. Earl was very active in his churches, Calvary Lutheran, 1st Lutheran & Lutheran Church of the Cross. He was a Sunday school teacher, and always helped out at the annual rummage sale and the Lutefisk dinner. His brothers were always sneaking over to swipe his homemade pickles. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of almost 50 years, Barbara; children, Sarah (Kirk) Tietz of Brainerd; Martin (Shari) of Ostego; brothers, Roy (Bev) of Ft. Royal, VA; William (Sue) of Bloomington; Lee (Daine) of Maple Grove; David of Mound and John (Peggy) of Minnetrista; five grandchildren, Sydney; Nash; Abigail; Jerrett and Aiden; many nieces, nephews and friends. Proceeding Earl in death are his parents; brothers, Martin and Paul. A memorial service celebrating Earlss life will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Lutheran Church of the Cross, of Nisswa, at 1PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Friday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Lutheran Church of the Cross. Arrangements made by Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
