Elsie Emma (Bahr) Johnson
Elsie Johnson, longtime Brainerd resident, died June 12, 2014, surround by her family.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1925, to Arthur and Freda Bahr.
She met Melvin Johnson while waitressing at Van's Cafe in Brainerd. They married on Dec. 14, 1943, at the home of Joseph and Helen Johnson.
She and husband Melvin were honest, hard working people were justifiably proud of their well-kept home east of Brainerd and the home farm The Pine Grove Dairy, which they operated in their younger years. Elsie worked at Hickerson's Garment Factory and later the Brainerd Regional Human Services Center until she retired in 1985. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy; parents, Arthur and Freda Bahr; brother, Melvin Bahr; and sister, Viola (Bahr) Carlson.
She is survived by husband, Melvin; son, Gay (Kathy) Johnson; grandchildren, Bethany and Eric (Rachael) Johnson; great-grandson, Victor; sisters, Ilo Riebe, Sally Peterson, Judy Young; brothers, Gene Bahr, Jerome Bahr and Thomas Bahr; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Arrangements are with Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, Ga.
