FSA nomination period ends Aug. 1
Trisha McMonagle, county executive director, recently reminded agricultural producers that the nomination period for Crow Wing/Cass/Aitkin/Itasca Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committees ends Aug. 1.
To be eligible to serve on an FSA county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the local administrative area where the person is nominated.
Farmers and ranchers may nominate themselves or others. Organizations representing minorities and women also may nominate candidates. To become a candidate, an eligible individual must sign the nomination form, FSA-669A. The form and other information about FSA county committee elections are available at www.fsa.usda.gov/elections. Nomination forms for the 2014 election must be postmarked or received in the local USDA Service Center by close of business on Aug. 1. Elections will take place this fall.
The Crow Wing-Cass FSA office will be holding a County Committee Election for the Local Administrative Area (LAA) 2.
LAA-2 - Debra Woitalla currently serves on the County Committee for this LAA which is located in southeastern Crow Wing County. This LAA contains the following townships: Bay Lake, Deerwood, Garrison, Irondale, Maple Grove, Nokay Lake, Platte Lake, Rabbit Lake, Roosevelt and Wolford.
The Aitkin-Itasca office will be holding a County Committee Election for (LAA) 3 in Aitkin County and (LAA) 4 in Itasca County.
LAA-3 - William Dotzler currently serves on the County Committee for this LAA which is located in southwestern Aitkin County. This LAA contains the following townships: Aitkin, Farm Island, Glen, Hazelton, Kimberly, Malmo, Nordland, Spencer and Wealthwood.
LAA-4 - This position is currently vacant for this LAA which is located in northern Itasca County.
This LAA contains the following townships: Alvwood, Ardenhurst, Balsam, Bearville, Bigfork, Bowstring, Carpenter, Deer River, Good Hope, Grattan, Kinghurst, Lake Jessie, Liberty, Marcell, Max, Moose Park, Morse, Nore, Oteneagen, Pomroy, Sand Lake, Stokes, Third River, T150 R25, Unorg T56 R27, Unorg T58 R22, Unorg T58 R23, Unorg T58 R26, Unorg T58 R27, Unorg T58 R26, Unorg T59 R22, Unorg T59 R23, Unorg T59 R24, Unorg T59 R25, Unorg T60 R22, Unorg T60 R23, Unorg T60 R24, Unorg T60 R25, Unorg T61 R23, Unorg T61 R24, Unorg T61 R25, Unorg T62 R22, Unorg T62 R24, Unorg T62 R25, Unorg T62 R26, Unorg T62 R27, Unorg T144 R25, Unorg T144 R26, Unorg T145 R25, Unorg T145 R26, Unorg T145 R27, Unorg T146 R26, Unorg T146 R27, Unorg T146 R28, Unorg T146 R29, Unorg T147 R26, Unorg T147 R27, Unorg T147 R28, Unorg T147 R29, Unorg T162 R25 and Wirt.
FSA will mail ballots to eligible voters beginning Nov. 3. Ballots are due back to the local county office either via mail or in person by Dec.1. Newly elected committee members and alternates take office on Jan. 1.
