Gregory Lofquist, age 35, of Pillager passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous fight with brain cancer. Greg was born on May 9, 1979 in Crosby to Gene & Shirley (Goppelt) Lofquist. Greg married his sweetheart, Kristi Barnett on August 27, 2005. He was a skilled electrician working for Holden Electric. Greg loved being a dad; Ethan was his absolute pride and joy. He was an awesome, fun person. He was always up for planning a party for family and friends, which usually included yard games. Greg also enjoyed 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, camping and elk hunting.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 9 years, Kristi; son, Ethan; parents, Gene (Brenda Lofquist) of Brainerd, Shirley Lofquist of Deerwood; father-in-law, Ron (Sandie) Barnett of Pillager; mother-in-law, Barb Nistler of Motley; sisters, Becky (Seth) Pakarinen of Deerwood, Gretchen (Adam) Gilmer of Burleson, TX, Rachael (Matt) Beehler of Brooklyn Park, Heidi (Dan) Burgstaler of St. Paul and Vanessa Lofquist of Crosby; grandpa, Palmer Goppelt of Inver Grove Heights; brother and sister-in-laws; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Greg in death are his grandmothers, Ardys Hohenstein & Darlene Goppelt.
Funeral services celebrating Gregs short but blessed life will be held at 3PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 4-7PM at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home-BRAINERD CHAPEL, and one hour prior to the service, Tuesday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to an education fund for Ethan are suggested.
