The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is seeking applications for the 2014 Brainerd Lakes Community Runoff Mini Grant program.
The SWCD is looking for projects that filter polluted runoff (tree planting, shoreline buffers, rain gardens, and other practices), have community involvement, and address Crow Wing County Water Plan priorities and concerns.
Applicants may include: schools, churches, neighborhood associations, local businesses, nonprofit groups, and local communities.
“The Crow Wing SWCD is excited to partner with Crow Wing County communities and have communities share what important clean water projects they have” said Melissa Barrick, SWCD district manager in a news release.
All projects require a 25 percent match to grant funds. Projects require 10-year minimum lifetime and include a maintenance plan. An interagency team will review, score and rank all applications which include SWCD, Crow Wing County, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, The Nature Conservancy, The Mississippi Headwaters, and University of Minnesota Extension.
Applications are due Tuesday. For application materials: email email@example.com or call 828-6197 or visit: http://www2.co.crow-wing.mn.us/swcd/Grants.htm#GrantsforCitizens.
Funds for this program provided by the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water Resources through the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment of 2008.
