Margery H. Collins

Margery H. Collins, age 81, Baxter, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19th, 2014. She was born in Brainerd March 28, 1933 to Clyde and Alice Bedal. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 11:00 at Heritage Assembly of God in Baxter, Pastor Heath Beard and Pastor Mark Boone officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd. Friends are welcome to gather Tuesday evening from 5 8 pm at Halvorson- Johnson Funeral Home BRAINERD CHAPEL and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Margy was a Brainerd High School graduate and received her B.A. degree in Business from St. Scholastica, Duluth, MN. She worked for Crow Wing County Social Services, first as a Social Worker and then as Supervisor of the Income Maintenance Unit. In her retirement years, she was a member of the Central MN Council on Aging.

She was an active member of Heritage Assembly of God, serving as teacher, project manager, the first Chairman of the Missions Advisory Committee, and helped organize the first Missions Convention and womens bible study. She also organized the capital campaign which funded the building of the current facility. She influenced many lives by her example and mentoring. Margy was known affectionately as the "book lady". She was a valuable, life giving resource through mentoring, friendship, teaching, and always finding appropriate books

Her profound love for the Lord influenced every area of her life, and provided the guiding principles by which she raised her family. She loved to read and never stopped learning. She also enjoyed decorating her home, and entertaining friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Sheila (Darrel) Olson, Steven (Pam) Collins, David (Linda) Collins, Dawn (Tim) Waage; and her grandchildren, Alissa (Jim) Sanders, Jeffrey (Adrienne) Olson, Lindsey Hanson, Julia (Andy) Van Houten, Alli (Ryan) Williams, Diana (Samuel) De Moraes, Stephanie (Matt) Swanson, Michael (Lindsay) Collins, Jason (Danielle) Waage, Davey (Nicole) Collins, Dan Collins, and Jordan Waage, and great-grandchildren, Max, Chloe, Jackson, Claire, Anderson, Kellan, Kiefer, Nora, Lincoln, Matteo, Etta, and Cash.

She is also survived by her sister, Geraldine, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Daniel R. Collins, and her parents. Arrangements made by Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd.
