River rescue: Crews respond after vehicle plunges down Mississippi River bank

Pedestrian walking along centerline hit by car

An Onamia man was injured Saturday after "staggering down the centerline" of Highway 169 and being struck by a car, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Eric R. Kimmons, 26, was walking down the middle of the road at 11:18 p.m. in Mille Lacs County when a vehicle driven by Thomas F. Merimonti, 74, of Aitkin, swerved to avoid Kimmons, according to reports.

Merimonti struck Kimmons with the side mirror.

Kimmons was transported to a Princeton hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Alcohol was detected on him, according to the state patrol.
