Pilot killed in Lake Superior crash was from Germany

DULUTH - The pilot who died when his airplane crashed into Lake Superior on Saturday has been identified as Alexander Georg Obersteg, 47, of Steinfeld, Germany.

A St. Louis County medical examiner’s report found that Obersteg died of injuries suffered in the crash and not as a result of a medical emergency prior to impact.
