Pine River watershed to conduct two meetings
The annual meeting of the Pine River Watershed Alliance (PRWA) will be held as a two-part meeting. The business portion of the meeting will be at 4 p.m. June 17, at the Ideal Community Center. The second portion of the annual meeting will present Value Survey results from the Watershed Restoration and Protection (WRAP) meeting that was held on April 26.
This second meeting will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 21 at the Warehouse in Pine River.
The business portion of the meeting on June 17 will cover financial reports, nomination and election of directors, new and old business, and a recap of the actions of the PRWA Board in the last year. The monthly meeting of the board will follow. All are welcome.
The second portion of the annual meeting on June 21 will start with a presentation of the citizen Value Survey conducted at the April 26 meeting.
This is a long term effort by the Pine River Watershed Alliance and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in a Watershed Evaluation and Management Process.
The process evaluates all 81 watersheds in the state and develops plans for restoration and protection. Each watershed process takes ten years. The first two years are an assessment of the health of the watershed that has now been completed for the Pine River Watershed. The next phase started at the April 26 meeting when local citizens participated in a Value Survey and a Priority Mapping session.
The meeting on June 21 will report the Value Survey results, including the priority mapping, and then, again, provide an opportunity for residents to input to the process of developing the management plan.
