Running: 'Ready, set, glow' event Saturday night

More than 200 runners have registered for Bridges of Hope's 5K, scheduled for Saturday at Northland Arboretum.

The community is invited to the arboretum to cheer on the runners registered.

Family friendly activities, concessions, and music will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the kids' one-half mile event at 7:30 p.m., and the 5K at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.)

The evening will conclude with a family friendly dance party with a live DJ where prizes will be awarded to the participants with the best glow attire.

The organization will collect a free-will donation at the entrance. Proceeds will benefit Bridges of Hope's work with families in the lakes area.

Registration the day of the event for the 5K is $35. Run organizers cannot guarantee T-shirt availability.

"We are thrilled by the positive response to this event," Jana Shogren, Bridges of Hope executive director, said in a news release. "We've planned a fun evening and are grateful to our sponsors and volunteers for their help making this event happen."
