Softball: Warriors sweep Franklin Outdoors
ST. CLOUD –The Brainerd Warriors 16-U fast-pitch team swept Franklin Outdoors 4-1 and 10-4 on Tuesday.
In the first game, Jillian Ewald had six strikeouts, Lexi Roby was 3-3 and Hannah Munsch hit a home run.
In Game Two, Madi Hill struck out six and Brooke Mimmack, Madi Veith, Kaye Smude, Ewald and Munsch all had two hits.
This weekend the Warriors are playing in the Star of the North tournament at St. Cloud. The Warriors then play at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Adamson Field at Brainerd High School.
Down & Dirty tourney
The Warriors participated in the Eagan Down and Dirty Tournament last weekend.
In their first game, they defeated the Aerials 1-0. Jillian Ewald had strikeouts and gave up one hit. Maddy Stall was 2-2 with the game-winning hit.
In their second game the Warriors lost 3-0 to Stars 98 despite two hits from Lexi Roby. The loss sent the Warriors to single-elimination bracket play.
In their first bracket play game, the Warriors lost to Forest Lake 5-4 in extra innings with international tiebreaker rules in effect. Kaye Smude was 2-2, Richelle Bjork doubled and Madi Hill hit a 3-run home run.
