Brainerd VFW Post #1647 will host the 60th Minnesota State VFW baseball tournament beginning with an Aug. 6 banquet at the Armory.
Each of the nine VFW districts, plus Brainerd, which is currently in the hunt to win District 6, will be represented by a team of 15-16 year old players.
All games will be held at Mill's Field and Don Adamson Field Aug. 7-8 in Brainerd with the championship games being played at Adamson Field Saturday and Sunday.
Opening ceremonies will be held at Adamson Field with the the first game, which will include the Brainerd team, following at 10 a.m. Aug. 7.
Thursday night will e Veteran's Night at Mills Field. Game time will be 5:30 p.m. All veterans and a guest will receive free admittance along with a free hot dog and drink. At the start of the game, veterans are invited to line the ball field with the teams and honor guard. Veterans are also welcome to attend the 6 p.m. game at Adamson Field free of charge. They are asked to bring any veteran identification or current military identification for admission.
The last time the tournament was held in Brainerd was in 1993.
