Victory League Baseball: Buckman takes East Division lead

PIERZ – Jeremy Payne belted a home run and a triple in three at bats to lead Buckman past the Pierz Brewers 6-0 Sunday afternoon in a game that put the Billygoats in sole possession of first place in the East Division.

Mark Kahl went 3-3 on the day while Corey Egan, Travis Kahl and Noah Boser all contributed doubles for Buckman.

Jeremy Monson pitched the first eight innings of the shutout striking out eight and allowing only four hits and one walk.

Jerron Boser led Pierz with two hits.

ROYALTON – Logan Kalis keyed the offense and Ethan Branum pitched seven shutout innings as the Ft. Ripley Rebels stayed unbeaten with a 6-0 victory over the winless Royalton Riverdogs Sunday.

Kalis finished 2-2 with a pair of doubles, walked twice, scored three times and drove in two.

Branum struck out 12 and gave up just three hits over seven innings before being relieved by Kalis for the final two innings.
