Walleyedan: Fishing Wisconsin
Good morning to you! I am back from a road trip to Packerland where I was filming an episode for Mills Fleet Farms’ “We Love It! Outdoors.” We (myself and the two cameramen, Kyle Peterson and Pete Palony) hooked up with guide Larry Smith, who has been at this guiding program as long as I have. It was fun for me to see his fishing style, hear his stories and learn a bit about the kind of person he is. These are things that make my job fun!
It’s not always fun and fish ladies and gentlemen, but it sure is fun to have the opportunity to be able to take it all in and learn from other people who make their living in the field that I am in. It’s been very interesting having this opportunity to film this show and I have really been blessed to spend time in the outdoors with other people that have some of the same passions that I do.
We caught fish — a lot of fish — and we also caught numerous species of fish including pike, catfish, drum, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, perch, carp and, of course, walleye. We fished Winnebago on Monday and the bay of Green Bay on Tuesday.
The weather was not pretty but we are all thankful to come away with a good show without wrecking any camera gear (TRUST ME). I did lose a big fish and also nice St. Croix rod and reel that will more than likely be caught by another angler one day. The wind kept us from a lot of spots on Green Bay, where we were in search of some giant walleyes. The giants didn’t make their way into our boat but we sure did have fun anyway.
You will certainly have to tune into this show because we caught the fish on many different baits and some are not your traditional walleye baits.
The new Mills exclusive colors in the Salmo Hornet, Berkley Flicker Shad and the Rapala Shad Rap look good enough to eat, go check them out!
Schools out! I wish all of you a fun-filled summer with lots of sun, fish and happiness!
