Mr. Steak restaurant at 724 W. Washington St. has closed and First National Bank of Deerwood will open a branch bank in the building this fall. Tom Aleshire, the bank's VP of operations, said contrary to rumor the Mr. Steak building will be remodeled, not torn down.

George Libera goes to work at the BN Railroad shops every day at 7 a.m. and goes home at 3 p.m. Most days he just sits in a room and waits for the day to end. He gets $100 a day and his job is guaranteed until he retires in 15 years. Libera says he wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Attorneys for the state of Minnesota will start over in their court action to force Brainerd to fluoridate its water. The first state action was denied by Judge Spellacy because it failed to note how much fluoride naturally occurs in Brainerd's water supply.

Law enforcement officers throughout the lakes area are on the lookout for five men who last night held up and robbed D.D. Schroeder, driver of the Mraz Wholesale Candy Co. truck. They took $300 cash, $250 in merchandise, hit Schroeder repeatedly and tied him to a tree.

Rev. Frank Higgins, the lumberjack sky pilot, passed through today on his way to Big Falls and International Falls. He had been at Rochester getting his collarbone repaired. Rev. Higgins sustained severe injuries in a railway wreck.
