Area farms honored for 100 years of single family ownership listed produce ranging from corn and soybeans to mosquitoes and deer flies. There are nine century farms in Crow Wing County and those belonging to the Lovesteds, Sodermans, and Bordens were recognized.

Rosella Dambowy, 3rd grade teacher at Riverside Elementary in Brainerd, will soon exchange her apartment and job for a year with teacher Enid Bennett-Shaw of York, England. Dambowy will live in the Shaw's house. (Mrs. Shaw passed away in June, 2014, in York.)

(Photo) Clyde Anderson and Glen Hasselberg, who missed tying for the Brainerd Shortstop title by a single stroke July 21, finished 1-2 in the Brainerd Area Men's City Golf Tournament. Anderson finished with a 69 and Hasselberg a 77.

Fifty pounds of muskies, represented by a 19-pounder and a 31-pounder, is on display at Cole's Sports Shop and getting most of the attention this week. They were taken on Leech lake by Les Hickerson of Brainerd using a Jointed Pikie plug.

Hubert beat Nisswa 14 to 9 Sunday in baseball. It was 9 to 6 in favor of Nisswa up to the 8th inning, when the Nisswa pitcher got disgruntled and quit and the shortstop was put on the mound.
