The Huron Heaters must have felt like they were being attacked by the legendary NY Yankees. The Bears knocked out 30 hits in a double header to win 14-1 and 8-3. Todd Vanek, who leads the Bears with a .340 average, went 6 for 9 with a homer and double.

Thieves hit Rademacher Marine Sports and Travel last night, stealing $9,000 in merchandise. Missing are a pick-up truck, eight outboard motors, seven chain saws and a riding mower. Plywood Minnesota and Collette's Bait Shop also had break-ins.

Gov. Floyd B. Olson was reported to be enroute back to St. Paul, having had his vacation at Gull Lake interrupted by an urgent phone call. Gravity of the Minneapolis' truck driver's strike was said to be the cause of his return.

Following a plan worked out by the judge, city attorney and chief of police, culprits in municipal court drawing 10, 20 or 30 days will serve their sentences on a municipal wood pile or rock pile. When the news spreads, every hobo will want to pass through Brainerd quickly.
