The Brainerd High School Kixters will perform at the 1995 Orange Bowl football game in Miami, as part of a halftime show choreographed by their coach, Cindy Clough. All 52 of her Kixters are eligible to participate in the show featuring dancers from around the country.

Playing two original songs from their new album, Brainerd band "Mountain Fever" won the Wrangler Country Showdown competition at the Drawbridge Bar in Little Falls. Members are Arvid Theien, Ron Scrimshaw, Jim Hanson, Paul Bloom and Buzz McCollough.

(Bus. News) Edwin Menk of Redwood Falls has joined Bud's Jewelry here as a watchmaker. He is originally from Morgan, Minn. He attended watchmakers school in St. Paul and won the Harold Donkersgold Award for highest score in the Minnesota exam in 1971.

In a surprise action, North Central Airlines has asked the Civil Aeronautics board for authority to continue service between the Twin Cities and Grand Forks by way of Brainerd. It is contingent on Northwest Airlines stopping service to Grand Forks.

Between 20 and 30 known criminals have established headquarters in the Brainerd lakes region, according to several reliable sources. Resorts elsewhere in northern Minnesota have reported "suspicious characters." This is in response to St. Paul's new police chief's pledge to crack down on crime.

With the church bells tolling at 6 p.m., umpire Tom DeRocher called the score a tie at 5 to 5 at the close of the 12th inning in a hotly contested baseball game between Verndale and Brainerd. Evenly matched, with game pitching and good support, the game see-sawed back and forth.
