The Crosslake City Council has appointed a community center planning committee to work with an architect to design a new center. The community and council feel that it should include meeting rooms, social hall and kitchen. Some want a gym and teen center.

Thieves hit the Brainerd Senior Citizens Center last night, stealing an array of office equipment and making off with $200 in bingo proceeds. Also hit were the RSVP and United Way offices in the same building. Entry was gained by kicking in doors.

Following the arrest of the bank's cashier for embezzling $38,000 from Citizens State Bank here, Clarence Berge, bank president, stated that the entire loss is covered by a bond. He said the matter is in the hands of the FBI, who continue to investigate.
80 years ago (1934)
Some 700 workers at the NP Railroad car shops in Brainerd looked forward with anticipation to their next payday. Restoration of part of the pay cut they endured months ago will put 2.5 percent back in their pay envelopes. It will mean $50,000 more for the shops this year.
100 years ago (1914)
For three days the chief attraction at the Park Theatre will be the movies showing Brainerd people at the circus parade and at the tent. Manager Adams says that 3,000 people appear in the parade pictures, and 1,500 in the circus tent. The movies are said to be crystal clear.
