Sen. Don Samuelson of Brainerd filed as a DFL candidate for governor today and announced state Sen. Paula Hanson of Ham Lake was his running mate. "She represents a metro district, so there's a balance of metro and non-metro," Samuelson said.

Claiming that action on its petition to recall five directors of the Crow Wing Coop Power and Light Co. had "dragged on too long," a group of coop critics today served the board with a class action lawsuit designed to speed up the process.

The city council has voted to ask the county commissioners for part of the courthouse lawn to be converted into a parking lot, and studied plans to widen 6th Street between Front and Washington. Widening would allow four traffic lanes instead of the current two.

Eyes turned skyward in Brainerd at 10:15 this morning to witness the inspiring sight of the 10 Army bombing planes, enroute from Minneapolis to Winnipeg on a leg of the flight from Washington, DC to Alaska. The gleaming planes zoomed over the city at about 2,000 feet.

Dr. W. A. Erickson has bought from Rosko Brothers a 1915 Chandler, of 35 horsepower capacity, and one of the first of its kind in the city. It is equipped with electric starter, electric lights and other improvements.
