The Brainerd Warriors (23-4) are making their first appearance in the state baseball tournament since 1989 as they face the Minnetonka Skippers (19-5). Brainerd earned its trip to state with 2-1 and 6-0 wins over the Moorhead Spuds.

The outdoor theatre era that's been a part of Garrison for more than 30 years has ended as the national trend for closing drive-ins saw the Sky Blue Drive-In near Mille Lacs shut down. It was started in 1951 by John Bollig, who was a Hamms Beer distributor in the area.

Crow Wing County officials have thrown down the gauntlet to their compatriots in Cass County, challenging them to a golf match at the Camp Confidence Celebrity Golf Tournament July 14. They are paying the entry fee from their own pockets.

The Model "T" Ford sedan owned by C.L. Henderson, stolen here early this week, was found abandoned and stripped in the center of the Brainerd airport, said police. Practically the entire machine was stripped of all parts. Even some parts of the body were removed.
