When the bell rings at this week's Junior National Boxing Championships at Saginaw, Mich., Brainerd's Dan Davis will come out fighting. Davis, 16, and coach Tom Herron leave today for the tournament.

The Brainerd Braves rocked Motley 14-0 in seven innings as Mike Bialka showed continued improvement from a wild opening performance against Nisswa-Pequot Lakes. Bialka fanned ten and walked two while allowing only a scratch single in the sixth.

While playing with a track torpedo to see what it was made of, young sons of Guy Woods and Frank Houle were seriously injured. The torpedo exploded, hurting the Woods boy in the ear and head, and striking the Houle boy in the kneecap.
