Steve Stoxen of Brainerd shot a hole-in-one on the Marsh course at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa. He aced the 168-yard fifth hole using an 8-iron.

As a member of the traveling student musical group "Up With People," Gay Gunsbury of Brainerd sang and danced her way through 28 states and nine countries this year. She's stayed with 62 host families and eaten varied cultural cuisine. For these reasons it's good to be home.

More than 110 entries, making it the largest parade in Brainerd's history, are scheduled for the Johnny Inkslinger parade on June 30. It will start at Kiwanis Park, go north on S. 5th to Laurel, then east to N. 8th, turn north on 8th to Holly, then west to Gregory Park.

Dennis Gustafson, owner of the Edgewater Beach Resort on Pelican Lake, has filed for the position of county commissioner from the second district. The list of those filing for all county offices now numbers 17.
