WCCO's Murphy and Shaffer to visit lakes area

WCCO-TV's Esme Murphy and Chris Shaffer, along with WCCO Radio's Dave Lee and Mike Lynch will pull into the Brainerd lakes area on Thursday and Friday as part of WCCO's annual summertime series, "Goin' to the Lake!"

Throughout the day on Thursday and Friday, the WCCO-TV cameras will roll as Murphy and Shaffer visit the Brainerd lakes area, including Moonlite Bay, Hassies Saloon, Lakes Jam and other area establishments to connect with local residents. In addition to their activities throughout the day, Murphy and Shaffer will report live from the Brainerd lakes area during the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. The public is invited to join them at:

Moonlite Bay in Crosslake — Thursday; 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

Hassies Saloon in Brainerd — Thursday; 10 p.m. newscast.

Lakes Jam at Brainerd International Speedway — Friday; 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts.

New to this year's "Goin' to the Lake!" series is the addition of WCCO Radio. Each Friday a member of the NewsRadio, 830 WCCO team will broadcast live on location. Joining Murphy and Shaffer in Brainerd is Dave Lee, along with Mike Lynch. Lee and Lynch will broadcast the Friday 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. show live from the 371 Diner in Baxter. The public is welcome to join.

"I'm heading to the Brainerd area with Esme Murphy, my Harley Davidson and rock n' roll music. Now that is summertime fun!" said WCCO Meteorologist Chris Shaffer. "I get to go to the Brainerd lakes area for work? Do I have the best job in the world or what?" added anchor Esme Murphy.

"I frequent the Brainerd lakes area in the summer, but it's even better this time because I get to bring the 'CCO listeners with me this weekend! Producer Jim Erickson and I are bringing the clubs with too!" said WCCO Radio's Dave Lee.
