■ Disabled American Veterans to meet

The monthly meeting for the DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 will be held Thursday at the Brainerd VFW Club. The membership meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

■ Polka dance planned

The Leon Olsen Show will perform from 1-5 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Little Falls Falls Ballroom. Any polka dancers interested can attend. Cost: $8 for admission. Lunch will be served for $5.

BAXTER — The Nisswa Women’s Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday beginning with a social time at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon with the program to follow at Prairie Bay, located at 15115 Edgewood Drive in Baxter. The program will be “Gourmet Appetizers in 20 Minutes” presented by one of Prairie Bay’s chefs Jon Pulsifer.

Candy Barnack will share the inspirational. Hostesses for the meeting will be Kathy Edmunds, Jean Halland, Ginger Hustevedt, Nancy Wangstad and Marilyn Wottreng.

■ Toastmasters club meets in Pequot Lakes

The Out of Towners Toastmasters Club now meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at the Pequot Lakes Library.

The club welcomes visitors and prospective new members. Attend a meeting to find out what Toastmasters is all about. Find out how to become a better communicator, learn leadership skills, gain confidence and find your voice.

This month, the club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday and Feb. 27. There will be an open house at the Feb. 27 meeting.

■ Ray’s Promenaders

to dance

Ray’s Promenaders will dance Friday beginning with plus at 7:30 p.m. and mainstream at 8 p.m. at the Baxter School cafeteria. Jane Simpson will be the caller for the evening. All dancers are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to show your patriotism. The potluck that follows the dance will be hosted by the Seglers.

■ Pequot Lakes Boy Scouts to host sloppy joe dinner

BREEZY POINT — Pequot Lakes Boy Scout Troop 102 will host a sloppy joe dinner from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Pelican Lakes Conservation Club in Breezy Point.

The conservation club is located at 8922 Thrane Drive, about two miles south of the Breezy Point Resort gates on County Road 4.

The dinner consists of sloppy joes, hot dogs, chips, beans, beverage and desserts.

Cost is $6 for ages 10 and older, $4 for ages 3-10 and free for children under 3.

The troop is earning money for Boy Scout camps.

VFW Friday dinner Auxiliary fish fry will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost: $8.

■ Men and Boys wild game potluck set Feb. 28 in Pequot Lakes

The 23rd annual Men and Boys Wild Game Potluck Banquet will be Feb. 28 at the Trailside Center at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bobber Bill from Camp Lebanon. There will be taxidermist displays and hors d’oeuvres. After the speaker, there will be a potluck dinner and prizes for youth and adults.

The event is free, but those who attend are asked to bring a potluck dish to share. For more information, call 218-568-5711.

■ Backus American

Legion dinner

BACKUS — The Backus American Legion menu will feature a hot ham sandwich with mashed potatoes smothered in brown gravy for $5 a plate from 5 p.m. until gone Feb. 21.

The Friday night meat raffle starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by bingo at 7:30 p.m.

■ NARVRE to meet

NARVRE members will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library. All retired railroad workers are welcome to attend. Also widows and widowers of retired railroad employees are welcome.
