Book signing event coming
BAXTER — Author Susan C. Holden will make an appearance for a book signing event from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday at Book World in Baxter.
Holden is featuring her book, “Sparky Dog: The Trash Hound Beagle.” This children’s book details the adventures of a real beagle named Sparky. Illustrator Lydia Aspen’s original pastel paintings bring the words to life, making it a delight for both children and adults. This book is designed to build vocabulary skills through its rhythmic verse.
Holden and Aspen grew up in the Brainerd area.
Deadline for photo exhibit approaching
AITKIN —The deadline to enter Jaques Art Center’s photography exhibit is Friday.
Artists may submit up to three entries. Digital images should be at least 300 DPI and submitted on CD if possible although photo prints will be accepted. Photos from 35 mm and digital film will be accepted, however, digital pictures must not be computer enhanced. The exhibit will feature three categories of people, nature and humor and they’ll be a category for adults and one for youth. There is not an entry fee nor will cash prizes be awarded for this exhibit. Exhibit will be displayed from Sept. 2 through Oct. 8.
‘Next Stop, Broadway’ to be performed
CROSSLAKE — Fishermen’s Community Theatre will present “Next Stop, Broadway,” a hilarious farce by Sandy Boikian that has been produced nationwide multiple times due to popular demand, at 8 p.m. Aug. 4-6 at the Old Fire Hall in Crosslake.

Organ recital planned Wednesday
Organist Cori Wrobel will perform at noon Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd as part of the Lakes Area Summer Organ Recital series.
A free-will offering is accepted, proceeds going to the church venue.
