Cowboy and Hobo Days: Family friendly fun

Johnny Jay Huhta and Friends will be among the musicians at the Cowboy and Hobo

The fifth annual Cowboy and Hobo Days music festival is scheduled Friday through Sunday at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds in Brainerd.

The event features country, folk, light rock and gospel music and is family friendly fun for all ages. No alcohol is allowed during the festival.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their instruments and talent to jam on the grounds. Campers are welcome and may reserve a spot by calling 829-6680.

This year’s list of acts includes Minnesota Country Music Hall of Fame member Red Johnson, Midwest Country Theater performer Angie Senger, the Hilarious Casey Aro, The Nelsons, Vern Bishop, Duane and Deb Hawkinson, Rockabilly Hall of Fame  member Johnny Jay Huhta and Friends, Lloyd LaPlant, The Cowboy and Hobo Show with Cactus Willie, Boxcar Bob and the Drifter and Rich Belert as master of ceremonies.

Entertainment starts at 10 a.m. and wraps up at 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and gospel music runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. 

Tickets are $10 a day or a three-day pass for $20. Cost for seniors 55 and older is $7 on Friday and $15 for a three-day pass. Kids under age 12 get in free when accompanied by an adult.
