Artist most admired: Cyrus Swann, a potter from Pine River.

What do you like about pottery: “This is the fourth pottery class I have taken. I like making my own stuff and using my styles. My cousins and brother were all in pottery and I wanted to be too. I was awful my first year as a sophomore, but I got better.”

Your most challenging piece: “Trying to get a good plate that didn’t crack or sag down. I accomplished it just a week ago and it was after like 10 tries.”

Your role as the pottery aide: “I mix up a lot of clay and get all the supplies ready for the students. I also help other students by walking around as they are doing their work and I give them tips.”

Dream job: “Professional fisherman at Bassmasters.”

Favorite subjects: Science and pottery.

Favorite movie: “The Goon.”

Favorite TV show: “Duck Dynasty.”

Favorite restaurant: The barn.

Favorite band: Midwest Selects.

Favorite Christmas treat: Peanut Butter Blossoms.

Top of your Christmas list: “Hunting knives and an ice auger.”

Other activities/clubs: “Super fanning the Warrior athletics, where I and six students help lead the cheers at sporting events and the Northwood Fishing League, a summer fishing competition.”

Biggest fish: “I was in first grade and on Red Lake and I was dangling a lure off the boat and caught a 36-inch Northern.”

Parents: Matt and Denise Sundquist of Brainerd.

Honorable mention: Erica Embertson, senior, art: “Erica is a pottery student who works diligently to produce quality work in a timely fashion. Her work ethic is truly an asset in the pottery studio. Erica is always on task or assisting a peer. She has a smile that lights up the room.”
