Hairball to take Brainerd stage Saturday

Hairball will bring many popular bands such as Kiss, AC/DC, Poison and Motley Crue to life on stage at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd Area Civic Center.

Special guest performers include JUNK FM and Brainerd native Seth Doud. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.

Advanced tickets can be purchased for $15 at Cash Wise Liquor in Brainerd and Baxter and Shep’s on Sixth in Brainerd. Tickets will be $25 at the door. Participants must be 21 years of age or older to attend. All proceeds for the show will go towards supporting the Brainerd Basketball Association (BBA) and the Brainerd Area Hockey Association (BAHA.)

Eryk Haapajoki, one of the organizers of the event, said: “The kids involved in each of these sports will ultimately benefit by this concert. To see two great organizations working together has been very rewarding. All of the proceeds of this event are for future Brainerd Warriors and young adults no matter what sport they play. In this day and age, fundraiser are part of the deal, and what a better fundraiser than to sell organized adult fun.”

Haapajoki expects to see 1,500-plus people attend the second annual event. Last year, about 1,000 people attended.

BAHA is an organized hockey program that strives to provide fun for players, improve hockey skills and develop responsibility and self discipline. BAHA’s goal is to create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, self confidence and self pride in hopes of preparing the players not only for the game of hockey but also to become well rounded and contributing members of their community.

BBA is a community based volunteer organization that fosters and develop competitive basketball players in Brainerd and Baxter. With direction from the Brainerd boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball coaches, the program’s goal is to develop basketball players who have aspirations of playing competitive basketball in Minnesota State High School League.

Hairball, an arena rock cover band from Minneapolis, includes vocalists Rockstar Bob, Joe Dandy and Kris Voxx. The Hairball stage becomes an entirely new rock concert before the audience’s very eyes countless times throughout the night.

The motor that drives the Hairball dragster consists of Freaky on the electric bass, Blake on the drums and Happy on the lead guitar. These Rock and Roll soldiers pride themselves on nailing some of the most memorable licks and chops of all time, while adding their own style and flare that they’ve cultivated over decades of tireless performing.
