June 23: Fabulous Armadillos, 4 p.m.; Buckcherry, 6 p.m.; Bret Michaels, 8 p.m.; and Skillet, 10:30 p.m. On the secondary stage will be Analog Drifters at noon; and Fookey at 2 p.m.; Kat Perkins at 11:30 p.m.

June 24: Maiden Dixie, 4 p.m.; Montgomery Gentry, 6 p.m.; Trace Adkins, 8 p.m.; and Jake Owen, 10:30 p.m. On the secondary stage will be Steele River Band, time to be determined; and Chris Hawkey at 11:30 p.m.


Pierz native Frank Weber, author of "Murder Book," will appear from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 21, Book World.


Author appearance

Author Lorna Landvik will appear, noon Monday, for the next author event, Brainerd Public Library.

Book Sale

Friends of the Brainerd Public Library will hold a sale of children's and young adult books at the Brainerd Library: Sale hours are 3-6 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Summer Solstice

"Summer Solstice at St. Mathias," an event staged by the Lakes Area Music Festival, June 23, the Farm at St. Mathias. Tickets are $85 for individual general admission tickets and $75 if purchased by June 14; or $600 for a reserved table of eight. Visit for tickets.

Writers Presentation

Stuart Horwitz, nationally-known expert on writing structure and revision, will offer a free presentation, "Finish Your Book in Three Drafts," 5:30 p.m. June 22, Brainerd Public Library.

Mega Book Sale, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 21-22 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23, Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library. "Jessie's Doll Boutique," a collection of dolls and accessories, will be featured at the sale in the Backstreet Books/Le Connection area.


Beer and Bacon

Beer and Bacon Bonanza, Friday-Sunday Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge. German party band Alpensterne to perform, 6 p.m. Saturday, part of the outdoor concert series.


Northwoods Arts Council's music festival, July 7-8 with "SINATRA! Josh Duffee and his Big Band Play the Music of Frank Sinatra." Fifteen musicians and a vocalist Jason Richards performing concerts at 7:30 p.m. July 8, Hackensack Community Center. A free band clinic will be sponsored at 11 a.m. July 8.
