Disabled American Veterans to meet

The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22  will be Thursday at the Brainerd VFW club. The membership meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Chapter officers will be elected at this meeting.

Brainerd Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Club

The Brainerd Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Church in Baxter. Program will be a preview of members’ “Challenge Quilts.” Also, bring your very first quilt and/or your ugliest quilt for a special show and tell.

Lakes Area Caged Bird Club

The Lakes Area Caged Bird Club Meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Lawn Town Hall located on Hwy. 18, one mile east of the intersection of Highways 18 and 25. We will be discussing our upcoming August bird fair.

500 card club

A 500 card club will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday nights at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center. Call Elaine at 828-1809.

Encore Arts Association

Encore Arts Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, 803 Kingwood, Brainerd. Dennis Morgan will continue Linoleum Block Printing instruction. Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition

The Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition in partnership with St. Joseph’s Medical Center will be offering Boot Camp for New Dads from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Boot Camp for New Dads is a nationally licensed program, facilitated by men, which is designed to give expectant fathers a place to learn from experienced fathers. VFW coming events

The VFW will serve St. Patrick’s Day corn beef and cabbage from 11 a.m. until gone Thursday. Cost: $8.

All you can eat fish will be the Friday night dinner serving from 5:30 p.m. until gone at the VFW. Cost: $8.

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the VFW. Full menu. Cost: $5.

Firearms Safety Training

Firearms Safety Training will be at the VFW hall in Brainerd on the following nights: April 14, 19, 26 and 28 and May 3 and 5. Field Day is April 30. Classes run from 6-8:30 p.m. of the above nights. Students must be 11 years old as of April 14. Cost is $15. To register call the VFW after 3 p.m. at 829-6393.

MN Retired State Employees Association

MN Retired State Employees Association will meet Thursday at Bonanza. Social hour at noon; dinner at 12:30 p.m. Meeting at 1 p.m.

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES

Alpha Chapter No. 23 OES will have its annual meeting Monday at the Masonic Hall. Meeting at 7:30 p.m. Wear green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

WHS Class of 1954

The Washington High School Class of 1954 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grizzly’s in Baxter.

Baxter Lions meeting

The Baxter Lions will be having its regular meeting on Monday at Camp Vanasek. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting is at 7 p.m.

Sagatun 18 Sons of Norway

Sagatun 18 Sons of Norway will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd. There will be appetizers, desserts, a coffee bar and the movie “Pretty Much 100% Scandinavian-Saga No. 2,” a lighthearted film about Scandinavian humor, will be shown.

Brainerd History Group to meet

The Brainerd History Group will meet 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sawmill Inn. Anyone interested in Brainerd history is welcome. Call 820-2424 for more information.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by the Drifters; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Deerwood with music by the Chmielewskis.

BHS class of 1971 40th reunion scheduled

The Brainerd High School class of 1971 has scheduled its 40th class reunion on July 29-30. Events include a mixer/social at the Brainerd VFW at 6:30 p.m. July 29. A golf tournament is scheduled on July 30 with tee off at 9 a.m. A class party/meal will be 7 p.m. July 30 at the Waterfall Inn.

An organizational meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Denny and Carole Bollig home for 1971 classmates wanting to help organize the reunion. For more information, call Mary at 829-8865 or e-mail dynobob@brainerd.net.

NARVRE change

The larger meeting room where the NARVRE meetings are usually held is under repair due to the leaks in the roof at the library. Members are to gather in the smaller meeting room at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library. Inquire at the desk if unsure where the meeting room is located.

Ray’s Promenaders

Ray’s Promenaders will have a dance Friday at the Franklin Arts Center. Plus will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by mainstream at 8 p.m. Myron Hollatz will be the caller. Theme will be anything green. There will be finger food after the dance hosted by Jim and Ann.
