The second annual Mud Run to benefit a Ministry to Special Needs adults in the Brainerd area, the Crow Wing Crusaders, is planned at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Lake Placid near Pillager.

Organizers are planning the muddiest 6K in Minnesota with three crazy mud pits, insane obstacles that include slides, ropes and inner tubes, dirt trails and lots of laughs.

The Pillager Fire Department will be on hand at Lake Placid to spray off the participants. However, you may want to wear old clothes. Hot dogs, corn-on-the-cob and treats are planned at the finish.

Awards will be given for the best costumes, the team with the most enthusiasm and the top three males and females. This is a family event and children have a chance to participate in either the 6K or 1/2 mile events.

Pre-registration is $25 before race day. Registration the day of the event will be $30 for individuals. There is a discount for families and teams. The 5K foot race will include three water/mud pits and a few obstacles. There will be a kid’s 1/2 mile event, also, or they may join the 6K event. You may rinse off in the Crow Wing River (Lake Placid) after the event as the showers are limited. Often after a mud event, people just toss their old clothes.
