On June 25, the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway felt the roll of motorcycle wheels as 20 bikes and 24 riders, organized by fellow rider Rick Beyer, owner of A-Pine Restaurant, rode the Byway route as a part of Million Mile Monday. The HOG Rally was held in Baxter the last weekend in June, and organizers encouraged local members to recommend area riding routes to attendees.

Launched in 2008, Million Mile Monday has been an annual event on the last Monday of June that brings thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders together in a collective effort to celebrate the motorcycle riding experience on the open road. In 2011, riders collectively logged more than 4 million miles.

Whether it’s a ride across town or cross-country, around the block to work, or along one of the nation’s 150 scenic byways, every mile or kilometer counts and can be recorded onto the Harley-Davidson’s online mileage accumulator. A rolling odometer records the collective distance traveled by all participants.

The Million Mile Monday rider group organized by Beyer turned in 2,880 miles and raised $100 for the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association.
