Craft sale and cookie walk planned

Park United Methodist Church will have a craft sale and cookie walk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 17, at 315 N. Sixth St., Brainerd.

There will be crafts, cookies and goodies and a chicken salad sandwich lunch for $5.

Advent Day of Reflection set

LITTLE FALLS—The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls will have an Advent Day of Reflection entitled Receiving Life as a Gift from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Dec. 1, in St. Francis Hall, St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.

Presenter Sister Elise Saggau, OSF, has many years of experience in education and Franciscan formation. Sister Elise now writes and gives talks, especially on Franciscan spirituality.

Thanksgiving Eve service at St. Paul's

There will be a Thanksgiving Eve service from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 21, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with friends from Park United Methodist, First Presbyterian, First Congregational UCC, Bethlehem Lutheran and others to raise prayers and voices in thanks.

The service will be followed by pie, coffee and fellowship. Donated pies are welcome to be shared that evening. All remaining pies will be donated for the Community Thanksgiving meal the next day.

For those able, bring a pie to share.

Trinity to host annual fall boutique and bake sale

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have its annual fall boutique and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

The fall boutique will feature "You Betcha Corner," Granny's Pantry, Cabin Fever, Holiday Inspirations, Attic Treasures and Bake Sale with lefse and Scandinavian goodies.

Caramel rolls and beverages will be served throughout the sale with a soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Doug's Trinity Cafe.

Bethel Lutheran events

Pastor Terry Frovik will lead the 9 a.m. worship service Sunday, Nov. 11, at Bethel Lutheran, South Long Lake.

Sunday school and confirmation classes and coffee fellowship will follow at 10 a.m.

The ladies of the church will meet 10 a.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall.

The church council will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Taize prayer service planned Thursday

First Congregational United Church of Christ in Brainerd will have a Taize prayer service 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.

Taize is a small village in eastern France. For over 50 years it has been the home of a Christian monastic community made up of brothers from many different countries. Thousands of people from all nations and faiths are welcomed there to live and pray together. The community has developed a unique style of meditative singing that focuses on the repetitive chanting of short phrases from the Bible and other Christian texts. The songs are interspersed with readings and contemplative silence. The Taize service is an opportunity to set aside busyness and find peace.

Odgren to be guest preacher

The Rev. Amy Odgren, assistant to the bishop Northeast Minnesota Synod, will be the guest preacher at both the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, services at First Lutheran Church, Brainerd.

She will discuss the happenings throughout the synod and talk about vital ministries the benevolence dollars help fund.

There will be coffee and treats between services along with a veterans' picture display.

Sunday school will begin at 9:10 a.m.

Turkey bingo planned

The St. Mathias Council of Catholic Women will host a turkey bingo at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in the church social hall, 4529 County Road 121, Fort Ripley.

A light lunch will be served. Tickets will be available at the door.

First Presbyterian Church moving sale set

There will be a moving sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 10, at First Presbyterian Church, 512 S. Eighth St., Brainerd.

There will be furniture, music, books and household items.
