Goldrush will perform from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at The Journey North Church/Livewell Coffee House in downtown Nisswa. A free-will offering will be taken.

Gospel performance set

“Shadow of the Cross,” a new gospel band of Dick Wilt, Lynn Donek, Jim Hanson, Ted Alvart and Jim Olson, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Union Church, 8.5 miles south of the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds on County Road 45.

Prince of Peace meeting 

BAXTER — Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will hold its annual congregation planning meeting from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.

Circle of Peace

BAXTER — Circle of Peace woman’s circle will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6311 Mildred Rd., Baxter.

French toast breakfast scheduled

HILLMAN — A French toast breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman. The menu is French toast,   sausage, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee. Immanuel is located at the junction of Highway 27 and Count Road 47.

Pequot church fundraiser 

PEQUOT LAKES — Grace United Methodist Church, just south of Pequot Lakes, will hold a one-time fundraising sale of fresh-frozen pasties from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday with special pricing on quantities of four or more.  

Blended families seminar  

A special seminar for blended families called “ STEPFAMILY SUCCESS”  will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and on Jan. 25 at the Brainerd Public Library.

Martin Luther King to be discussed

First Congregational United Church of Christ will honor Martin Luther King Day by holding a discussion of current justice issues on Sunday during Adult Forum. Marcia Ferris, church member and former chair of the state United Church of Christ  Justice Committee, will lead the discussion. Adult Forum meets after the 10 a.m. worship. 

First Lutheran to review budget

First Lutheran Church in Brainerd will preview the 2011 ministry budget at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the church.

First Lutheran youths attending summer faith trips also will be hosting a fundraising breakfast beginning at 9 a.m.

Franciscan Sisters prayer event Jan. 20

LITTLE FALLS — The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to join them for Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina from 6-7 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Gathering Space at St. Francis Convent in Little Falls. 

Centering Prayer is an ancient and contemporary way of prayer. Following the prayer there will be a time for “Lectio Divina,” an opportunity to reflect on the Sunday Scriptures.

Parish nurse luncheon 

The Lakes Area Parish Nurse luncheon meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland in Brainerd.

Presentation will be by Kris Kayser, a hospice social worker. Participants are asked to RSVP to Joy at 855-6639.

Financial classes to be taught at Zion

Financial Peace University, a 13-week program taught by Dave Ramsey, will be taught at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 at Zion Lutheran Church, 220 North Eighth St., Brainerd.

The program teaches families and individuals how to handle their money through common sense principles and small group accountability.
