Jaime Jorge to perform

World renowned violinist Jaime Jorge will be in concert at the Brainerd Seventh-day Adventist Church at 6 p.m. April 17.

Jorge has performed internationally for governors and other government officials, at Carnegie Hall, various university orchestras, and much more. He has traveled more than 4 million miles on tour to dozens of countries. Find out more at www.jaimejorge.com.

The Adventist church is located at 2910 Oak Street in Brainerd. Seating is limited so register now at www.brainerdsda.org. Parking will also be limited so car pool if possible.

Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection

The Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection invites women of all ages to a spring luncheon from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Hotel (formerly Red Roof Inn), Brainerd.

Jackie Froemming, Crow Wing County Coordinator of the Master Gardener Program, will share gardening helps in “A to Z: Gardening Tips for Almost Every Letter.”

Ray Puetz, a man with many talents, will provide music.

Explore with Lisa Fernelius, speaker from the Twin Cities, how the circumstances of our lives may look quite different when a new perspective is discovered in “Things Are Not Always What They Seem.”

Free child care is available at a church located near the luncheon.

Lenten services at Trinity Lutheran

Lenten services are continuing at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 South Sixth St., Brainerd, 6 p.m. Wednesday. Pastor David Holte will be speaking on the Lenten theme, “Generation X.”

The 2011 Lenten services is focusing on the theme of six generations, exploring each week how the various generations understand and experience God, faith and the church.

A Lenten supper will be served by the Meinke and Haugene families beginning at 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

FLC events

First Lutheran Church, Brainerd, will have a new members’ class No. 1 during the adult enrichment hour at 9:15 a.m. Sunday in the Upper Room.

Wednesday Lenten services at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. 8th St., Brainerd, will be 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Lenten Soup suppers will be served from 5-6:45 p.m. each Wednesday. The theme for Lent 2011 will be “Cross Talk in Freedom Square.” On Wednesday, the message for the services will be “Freedom from the Rat Race.”
