Lord of Life annual rummage and bake sale
BAXTER — Lord of Life Lutheran Church on Hwy. 210 in Baxter will be having its rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 13 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14. All proceeds will benefit the youths going to the BWCA this summer to help with clean up of the area and also for those going to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in 2012. The youth will tithe the amount made and help with camperships for kids that need financial help to go to camp. Donations of items in good condition are welcome and may be dropped off on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. or Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection
The Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection invites women of all ages to the May luncheon from 12:15-2 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Hotel.
Suzanne Welch from the Common Goods Store will facilitate a fun, spring fashion show.
KayLeen Brausen will provide music.
Deb Isle will share her faith story and how one can see God’s work in the jail ministries helping women in our area.
Free child care is available at a church located near the luncheon.

PINE RIVER — There will be a turkey dinner at Faith Lutheran Church, 13 miles east of Pine River on County Road 1, from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Cost: $9, adults; $4, children.
“Mentoring: Seen and Unseen” is the topic at First Congregational United Church of Christ’s adult forum on Sunday after the 10 a.m. worship. Parent educator Lowell Johnson will use the story circle model to facilitate a discussion of the importance of mentoring relationships.
LeFevre Quartet in concert

Evenings of Reflection for men
Father Michael Schmitz will give a talk on “Purity of Eyes” at All Saints Church in Baxter at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Discussion will follow.
Seminary speaker at Bethany Lutheran
CUSHING — Bethany Lutheran Church of Cushing will welcome the Rev. David Lose of Luther Seminary in St. Paul for Bethany’s May 22 worship service. Lose will preach the sermon that day and lead a discussion and question and answer session during the fellowship hour on “Making Sense of Scripture.”
Pastor Jim Swanson will conduct a series of study and discussion sessions beginning Sunday on the topic of “Making Sense of Scripture.” There will be study sessions on Sunday mornings, May 8 and 15, following worship services. Each week, Pastor Jim will repeat with Wednesday evening discussion sessions at 7 p.m. Wednesday and May 18.
The church is located one half mile south of Highway 10 at 25430 Bison Road.
First Lutheran Church events
Saturday is spring clean-up day at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. All willing volunteers are asked to bring gloves, rakes and other cleaning supplies with them. The Property Ministry Team will have plenty of work to do from 8 a.m. to noon.
A ninth-grade confirmation retreat will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. The students will write their faith statements and make their confirmation stoles in preparation for the confirmation service on May 21.
On Sunday, Jodi Hapstead, chief operating officer of Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota, will be the guest speaker for Adult Enrichment at 9:15 a.m. in Koinonia.
On Thursday, the youth group from First Lutheran Church will hold a large group rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the mezzanine. The rummage sale will resume on from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 13. Donations for the sale will be accepted all day on Wednesday. All proceeds benefit youth faith trips this summer.
New Member Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran
Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, ELCA, in Brainerd, will celebrate New Member Sunday this Sunday.
