Talbot to present ministry

NISSWA — John Michael Talbot, recording artist, author and founder of a Christian community, will present a three-evening itinerant ministry at St. Christopher’s Church in Nisswa on May 23-25. Each evening will begin at 7 p.m. Michael will lead a time of music and teaching, praise, worship and prayer. Each evening will be different.

Vacation Bible school at Park United Methodist Church

Park United Methodist Church, 315 N. Sixth St., will have vacation Bible school June 6-10 from 8:30 a.m. until noon with classes for ages 2 years through seventh grade. This year’s theme is “Shake it Up Cafe: Where Kids Carry out God’s Recipe,” and kids will discover God’s recipe for living according to the Bible, “God’s Recipe Book.”

A daily offering will be taken for the Society of St. Andrew, end hunger project.

Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina

LITTLE FALLS — The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to join them for Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina from 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the Gathering Space at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Ruby’s Pantry to possibly begin distribution site

Ruby’s Pantry is interested in developing a distribution site in central Minnesota, particularly the Brainerd area. The purpose of Ruby’s Pantry is to share the love of Christ through the monthly distribution of food. Ruby’s Pantry is a 501c3 non-profit organization with a mission “to procure and distribute corporate surplus food and goods to help fight poverty, hunger and disease in rural communities.” A core of volunteers is needed to partner with churches and food shelves. Lakes Area Parish Nurse meeting

New Member Sunday at FLC

Sunday is New Member Sunday at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. 8th St., in Brainerd. A coffee hour will be held at 9:15 a.m. in honor of new members joining the church during the 10:30 a.m. service. Also, during the 10:30 a.m. service, Sunday school teachers will be recognized and Sunday school students will be presented with attendance awards.

The ninth grade confirmation students and their families will be honored at 6 p.m. Wednesday at a confirmation banquet in Koinonia. Seventh and eighth graders will be doing the set-up, serving and clean-up.

Silent auction 

A silent auction will be held at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a meal following. Proceeds from the auction will go to the building fund.

How to master change

A spiritual discussion on change will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Brainerd Public Library s ponsored by Eckankar, Religion of the Light and Sound of God. For more information, visit

Pasty dinner planned

PEQUOT LAKES — Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will have its all-you-can-eat pasty dinner from 5-7 p.m. May 20. Cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 6-11, and under 6 eat free. No reservations are necessary. Proceeds benefit local church missions and programs. Grace United Methodist Church is located 1.7 miles south of the lights in Pequot Lakes on Hwy. 371.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church garage sale

The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church’s youths will have a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 20 at 6311 Mildred Road, Baxter. The sale will also include a bake, brat and plant sale.

I then transfered up to Bemidji State University in, you guessed it, Bemidji, MN. In the spring of 2009, I graduated from BSU.
